School Days

A visual novel turned manga/anime. The actual gameplay is the typical dating game. You play as Makoto Ito as you date and eventually develop a loving relationship between either Kotonoha Katsura, Sekai Saionji, or six other beautiful young women.

But it is at the endings when this game rears its ugly head. It is infamous for its three notoriously gruesome "Bad" endings, which either involve Makoto being stabbed by Sekai, Kotonoha committing suicide in front of Sekai and Makoto, scarring them for life, or Kotonoha outright killing Sekai while on a date with Makoto.

But when it came time to create an anime, Studio TNK decided that it wasn't horrifying enough. And thus, there was only one ending...the yandere ending, where Makoto is stabbed by Sekai, Kotonoha severs the head from the body, Sekai's neck is slit by Kotonoha, and Kotonoha lives Happily Ever After with what's left of her boyfriend/corpse.

So Yeah

It is worth knowing that there are actually 21 possible endings, including the downer endings.

If you watch the show, beware of the idiot plot and the yandere psychopaths

Birthday 9 Days

When ones birthday falls on a weekend it is a great time. However, it is much less fun when one's birthday is on a weekday. As a consolation, many people observe the tradition of birthday 9 days. Instead of one big party, you can celebrate your birthday in smaller parties starting the weekend before your birthday and ending at the end of the following weekend, making a total of 9 days.

There are two sects of people that define which days are weekend days. One group defines the weekend as Friday and Saturday, while another group defines the weekend as Saturday and Sunday. Usually people over the age of 30 fall into the latter group, since they are too old to go out and party on Friday night.

Mark: "Does birthday 9 days start this weekend?"
Derek: "Hell yea! 9 day bender here I come!"

hella days

widely used norcal/bay area phrase used to describe an extended period of time. Could be anywhere from a few minutes to a few years.

Used much in the same context that others not from norcal use the word forever (eg) "We've been living here forever"

norcal person 1: It took you hella days to get over here.
norcal person 2: Yeah dude, I know. The traffic in the bay area blows.

norcal person 1: I haven't seen you in hella days! (usually 3 or more days... but it could even be years)
norcal person 2: hella
