Wordelvian

To be lost in the creative art of deconstructing and rebuilding words, with the soul purpose of producing glorious new texts.

The person with a wordelvian personality has a unique gift, delivering strong poetic sentences, many of which can surpass the works of the more popular scribes.
'She is an absolute wordelvian. The sentences in her new book read like poetry, with canny, mind boggling twists.'

A word or phrase that runs through your head repeatedly, much like the musical 'earworm'.
After reading the line 'let's have a little talk about tweetle beetles' from Fox in Socks by Dr Suess, I said to my friend, 'That's going to be my wordworm today.'

Wordyworm

Someone who diverts attention from the core point in an argument by taking offence or paying excessive attention to the individual words used.

It's similar to the strawman fallacy.

This tactic is quite effective in that the person making the original point becomes distracted and usually ends up forgetting or relinquishing their core argument because they end up addressing the wordworm's objections.
Protagonist:, I think you need to understand why I'm feeling a little upset about (insert issue here). Can you allow me to explain?
Wordyworm: What? you're saying I'm stupid? That I don't understand?

Words don't win a horse race

This is an old New England saying, specifically originating during the heyday of Rockingham Park Racetrack in Salem, New Hampshire. You might say this when someone is all talk and no action or saying something they can't back up.
Asenath: I can cross-stitch so much better than you!
Ivory (who is a sought-after bride because of her cross-stitch skills): Words don't win a horse race.
