Grittyverse

Grittyverse is a term used mostly in fanfiction & is a type of loose AU (Alternate Universe) that can be used on it's own or in tandem with another AU.

It's an adult interpretation of characters & settings form children's media, which at times borders on Noir / Grimdark.

It can include references to or mentions of; Panic attacks, mental illness, non-canon typical violence, torture, abuse, substance abuse, sex, & character death etc.

PersonA: "Wow this fanfic you showed me is a lot darker than I thought it would be."
PersonB: "Oh yeah sorry, I forgot to mention it's Grittyverse."
