Most likely a mythical modern retelling of a mystic group of hallucinogenic mushroom-eating Siberian shaman who wore red and white outfits, snuck in through the chimneys of villagers and distributed the sacred mushroom Amanita Muscaria. Other associations from the popular myth easily fall into place. The reindeer is the animal most associated with Amanita as it is a popular dish to them. Amanita tends to form a symbotic relationship with spruce or pine trees which are used for Christmas trees. It is also said that the Siberian shaman could fly, but probably not physically. However, Amanita often gives the sensation of flying.

Santa Rosa High School

All around awesome high school famous for its artistically talented students. While many are drawn to SRHS for the ArtQuest program, there are plenty of "normal" students who aren't artistic and don't take any of those specialty classes. It was chartered in 1874. With over 2,000 students, it's the largest school in town.

Outstanding career programs include the agricultural, auto shop, wood shop, metal shop, and CISCO networking classes. There is also a full selection of Honors and AP classes.

SRHS offers many sports throughout the year, and competes in the NBL, NCS Division 1. While the school's recent football winning streak hasn't been too good, the team got a new coach and the future looks bright. Doug Courtemarche has coached state and national cross country/track champions and Olympians during his twenty years at SRHS. Many great athletes started at this school, so don't listen to people who say SRHS is for art and not for sports.

SRHS is the most diverse school in the city, and everyone can find their own niche here. Come join us. Learn the fight song. Start a club. Play a sport. And remember, once a Panther, always a Panther.

Santa Barbara Special

An adult beverage created from one 40 oz. of beer, preferably malt liquor (Olde English 800, aka O.E. aka a forty aka feezy) and fortified wine such as MD 20/20. An adult above the legal drinking limit should drink his 40 to the top of the label and then fill the bottle back up to the top with MD 20/20. Flavor choice is determined by the drinker's palette.
