A made up reason explaining some phenomenon. Has no real meaning, but is used as a placeholder for BS-ing, especially in computer science.
Sam: Dr. Plank, what causes those strange aberrations in your graph?
Dr. Plank: Don't worry Sam, those are just cache effects.

The DDR Effect adj.: a member of the male gender doing something thought to be totally 'uncool' in absolutely no attempt to get female attention, but yet attracting the eyes of every female in the room. Doing something your 'mates' would laugh and mock you for, but the female gender find quite 'adorable' or 'sweet' and therefore think of you as a sensitive guy and potential suitor.
those kids that are like massively awesome at ddr are the main inspiration for the ddr effect or guys that take their little siblings to a movie to get them out of their parent's hair for a while potray aspects of the ddr effect LOL. guys should totally try this. it's a total chick magnet :P

Adam experienced The North Effect when he rewatched “North” starring Elijah Wood. After rewatching it as an adult, Adam experienced severe disappointment after realizing the movie was in fact - fucking terrible.

Occurs when a girl thinks she has found a man that will make all her dreams come true. It doesn't matter about reality--because she views him as her 'beau'--she becomes oblivious to his shortcomings and is totally enamored with the smallest of things. Even a one-word text message becomes loaded with meaning for her.
(Girl looks at her phone and smiles, all dreamy-eyed)
Roommate: what's up? You look tooooo happy...
Girl: oh nothing, I just got the sweetest text from Cedric!
Roommate: (cynically) Really! What pearl of wonderfulness did he say, if you don't mind my asking..
Girl: (with stars in her eyes) he said "Sup!"
Roommate: (muttering quietly) It's the friggin' placebeau effect at work again...

Turns you into a flaming liberal.
Watching Fox TV with my dad for the day had the fox effect on me. I have always considered myself slightly conservative but after the fox effect took hold I am practically a commie.,

The chrysalis effect is the result of working hard on securing new personal and professional development skills while quarantined/self-isolating/WFH. Enough time has passed since seeing others that your new persona is the new normal.
The chrysalis effect has resulted in others subtly perceiving him/her differently than they did before.
