A phrase used to change the subject when someone who should not be hearing the conversation directly preceeding said phrase walks into hearing range/room. It is often followed by laughter.

It's a greeting like, "whats up?" or "how are you?", posing the question, "what can we make of this?". It's not asking whats happening or what will happen, but what can happen. . . What can we make of this opportunity which is the present?
