"the place I lived in ,hated and somehow was able to leave" -my father who left the soviet union about a year before it fell.
All the communism jokes are not funny , literally no food on shelves, living with 3 generation of family in a room about 16 ft by 16 ft,sharing a bathroom with 4 family's,

It was not a nice place or a thing to joke about.
