Get the grebbly mug.West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
Some grebo passed with Sabbath playing on his stereo.

Stereotypical 'Greebo' would listen to Nu-Metal and wear loose fitting jeans.
Term is generally used by a Towny as an insult. Stereotypical Towny would listen to Garage music and wear branded sportswear - prefferably Nike Reebok or Adidas, Reebok Classic Training shoes, Baseball cap - either navy blue or white.

Get the Gerben mug.The term Greebo originates from 1950s bikers who had greased back hair hence "greebo". Many people use the word "Greebo" in reference to teenagers who listen to rock bands and dress in a manner which distances themselves from the masses. Chavs/trendies/townies etc have been fighting with greebos since the legendary "mods and rockers". Today, we see two subcultures opposing each other, Chavs and Greebos. While chavs have a tendency to be on the less academic side, a large portion of greebos continue on through further education. This is mainly due to the class divide. It has been noted by numerous sociological sources that Chavs are predominantly working class; while "Greebos" are predominantly middle class.
