cool hand luke

A famous 1967 film starring Paul Newman, based on the novel by Donn Pearce. In it Newman's character Luke was sent to a jail in the south for taking the heads off of parking meters. He seems enigmatic and standoffish to his fellow inmates but eventually gains their respect and even their adoration. He gains the nickname "Cool Hand Luke" because he'll fight when he has nothing to fight with (you'll understand if you've seen the film. The movie was a powerful metaphor for how being different from others can be very painful, not because you're a freak, but because they don't understand you. Newman stated that 'Cool Hand Luke' had one of the best movie scripts he'd ever read. Recieved an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay adaptation.
'Cool Hand Luke' was also the originator of the phrase "What we have here is a failure to communicate."

Rule of cool

In short, the Rule of Cool states “The limit of the Willing Suspension Of Disbelief for a given element is directly proportional to its degree of coolness. Stated another way, all but the most pedantic of viewers will forgive liberties with reality so long as the result is wicked sweet and/or awesome.
In an RPG, the Rule of Cool means giving your players the chance to perform ridiculous stunts or bend the rules a little bit in the sake of an awesome scene.

Cool-O-Meter

An invention created by Professor Farnsworth to detect the level of "cool" of any given person as measured in "megafonzies".
When it detects around 40 megafonzies, a gloved hand will pop out and give a 'thumbs up' and the Cool-O-Meter will say, "oh, yeah!".

When the device registers 2 megafonzies, the user (let's just call him Russ), will not be able to attract guests to his subsequent party.
