Pot Calling the Kettle Black

An expression that is said when one accuses another person of that which they are equally guilty of.

Many years ago, people used to cook over an open flame using copper kettles and iron pots. The copper kettles were usually polished after every use whereas the iron pots were not and remained blackened from the soot from previous cookings. Well someone got the idea that if the iron pot were alive and it looked at a nearby copper kettle, it would see a black image. The iron pot believes it sees the image of the copper kettle when in reality, because the copper kettle was polished, what the iron pot was seeing was a reflection of itself. This symbolic phrase became associated with hypocrisy. An accuser blames someone else for having a fault when the accuser has the same fault.

Joe accuses Mark for not keeping his house clean when in reality, Joe has a messy house. Therefore, Joe is guilty of "the pot calling the kettle black".

the process of approaching prospective customers or clients, typically via telephone, who were not expecting such an interaction. The word "cold" is sometimes thought of as being used because the person receiving the call is not expecting a call or has not specifically asked to be contacted by a sales person. It is pretty much another word of telemarketing

I hate when those people from overseas are cold calling me to sell me insurance that I already have.

Calina

Calina is one of the girls that you’re very lucky to meet in life. She’s all rounder who is usually kind and caring, the perfect girlfriend. She’s a girl who can be so good at things when she wants to. If you’re on her good side, then you’re in luck because she is one of the most loyal friends you’ll ever be able to find. She’s sometimes shy and you’ll have to get to know her better to know more about her inner qualities. Also she is cute af.

Calvin and Hobbes

Truly one of the best comic strips ever done, sadly it has been discontinued by its artist, Bill Watterson. Not only does the comic bring something of an amazing vocabulary to a medium usually lacking in that division, but it is also hilariously funny, and often times cute.

The protagonist is Calvin, a six year old that enjoys torturing his teen-aged babysitter, and romping in the woods with his best friend, Hobbes. They have fun by holding top-secret GROSS meetings in their treehouse, and throwing various assortments of things at Susie, the focus of Calvin's frustration at times.

The side-kick of sorts is Calvin's stuffed tiger, which, at least in his imagination, is a real tiger that likes tuna fish sandwhiches, and steals his covers in bed. Also loves to have his belly rubbed

Basically, if you haven't read anything of the C and H variety, your life is lacking...

n/v (a calvin and hobbes/ calvin and hobbesed) something ridiculous, and potentially dangerous. (aka backing a car out of the driveway and into the ditch, riding a flimsy wagon off the edge of a cliff, throwing ice/snow balls at girls)

The Chicago Tribune still runs Calvin and Hobbes strips.
