Sword and board

In role playing games in general, the expression "sword and board" refers to using a weapon in one hand and a shield in the other hand during combat, as opposed to using a weapon that requires both hands to wield and use effectively. Although the expression uses the word "sword" for aesthetic reasons (the rhyming scheme), the weapon in question can be any one handed weapon.

The monster we're up against next hits pretty hard, so I think I'm going to go sword and board for this battle.

He has to go sword and board because he doesn't have the strength to use a proper two handed weapon!

a company that makes and distributes the SATs, SAT IIs, among other things. known for its tendency to force students and their parents to pay too much for a "standardized" test. works closely with colleges to bleed students and their families' bank accounts dry for their own benefits.

Student 1: Man, College Board is the devil incarnate.

Student 2: Tell me about it. I just bombed my SAT Math II subject test, even though I've taken every math class available up through AP Statistics. So... not only did I not get a good score, but I had to pay for it, and I'll have to pay to cancel it.

Student 1: That sucks.

boar party

This is a party given by some groups of women university students in which each attendee puts down an ante of $20 or so and invites the homeliest guy that she can. After the occasion is over, a vote is taken by all of the girls who had participated, and the winner gets a new vibrator and the remainder of the money. In essense, this is the female equivalent to a pig party.

The Phi Taus had a boar party last Saturday night. Amy won it by taking Cletus.
