To take a dump in a book. This leaves a nice surprise for whoever owns the book.

Student 1 - Someone keeps leaving their history book in the best spot in the library to save their seat. It really pisses me off.
Student 2 - Leave them a Croatian bookmark in the section on World War I. That'll teach them a lesson!

To mark a page in a book by taking a dump on the page and then closing the book on it.

To friend: I was upset with my roommate so I left him a Croatian bookmark in Chapter 4 of his History book. He'll never think of the 100 Years War without remembering that little bookmark.

When you go to Barnes and Nobles and pay 5 dollars for a bookmark of a fake dollar bill or some other sheit when you could have just used the 5 dollar bill as a bookmark! commonsense !
