Textican Standoff

This is when two parties (most often a couple) find themselves in a heightened state of readiness whereby both eagerly await a text message from one another while each is simultaneously unwilling to send one. Often, the first to cave is perceived as being a weak, ineffectual, or submissive.

bystander one:
wow, have they been like this all day?

bystander two:
Yes, each of them is poised to hit send...but...well, you know...

Mexican Standoff

This is when you go into a public restroom, into a stall and another person comes in and sits in the stall next to you. Neither of you drop a deuce, waiting for the other to drop first. It makes for a sometimes tense situation

Damn... I was just in the men's room and got caught in a mexican standoff. I finally got up and left. I'm going to give it another try in a few minutes.

When 2 or more cars pull up to an intersection with stop signs and each driver waits for the other person to make the first move though the intersection.

I would have been here sooner but I got stuck behind a car at a four way stop and nobody would move, it was like a stop sign standoff

textual standoff

When a man and woman, not yet in a committed relationship, hold out on texting each other, typically after a sexual encounter with each other, for fear of their partner thinking that they are "too clingy." Similar to a wild west standoff, except with texts not revolvers.

Manuel- Have you heard from Sarah since that party last weekend?
Craig- No, we banged in the bathroom, but now I'm in a textual standoff with her.

waco standoff

A term used when you and 1 or more of your friends are playing a first-person shooter type video game, and some or all of the players have equipped sniper rifles, therefore all the players are just hiding waiting for someone else to move.

Great, we all have sniper rifles, looks like we're gonna have another waco standoff.

French Canadian Standoff

A gentlemen's duel. Two men have a staring contest completely naked, while masturbating vigorously. First one to blink or ejaculate loses, however if the semen hit's the opponent in the eye resulting in blinking, the ejaculator wins. However if the opponent does not blink after being hit in the eye, they win.

When no other means of reconciliation could be achived between the two parties, a French Canadian Standoff was held to decide the outcome of the argument.

Mexican Standoff

A phrase used by sports announcers to describe a tie or draw game. Use of the term has declined in recent years probably because it is perceived as being politically incorrect and also because the rules of some sports have been modified to reduce or eliminate ties or draws.

How appropriate that the World Cup opener between South Africa and Mexico ended in a Mexican Standoff.
