These sad sacks will root for a big market baseball team in the biggest city in the country and will watch them lose every game they play. Most Mets fans also follow the other two loser teams of New York (Knicks/Jets) and also let those teams walk over them as well. They may call themselves "loyal and true New Yorkers" when really, they are just sad, middle-aged alcoholics with constant dry spells. When you tell a Mets fan "Mets" stands for "My Entire Team Sucks" they will surely deny it, then proceed to run and hide like the man-babies that they are. If that doesn't work, they will then try to bring up the argument that Yankee fans only bring up the past and never actually talk about the present, when Mets fans neither have a past, nor a present to be happy about.
They will also claim that the Yankees (their crosstown rival) are fake New Yorkers, but don't listen to them. Most of them failed history in high school. The Yankees have won New York's heart first and will always be New York's team, and the Mets will continue to be the whiny little brother who is always jealous. They are so annoying that even their own mascot flipped them off. That's a fact.

Get the mets fans mug.People who spend way too much time on Urban Dictionary clicking the thumbs down on the latest factual information regarding their underachieving and boorish New York sports franchise. The fact of the matter is, the Mets had a lucky season in 1986 and have done very little since then. Their claim to fame that season Dwight Gooden cannot keep his nose clean and they continue to play in Shea Stadium in Queens. I have seen the stadium myself and can honestly say it needs to be demolished or turned into a museum. Perhaps the Mets will stop being mediocre and become competitive. It's pathetic that the Braves continue to dominate the National League East, not to mention the fact the Mets can barely compete with a team that was on the brink of folding and a franchise that cannot fill a stadium or keep a team in tact. Mets fans are also used to being pampered by a bias East Coast media which for some odd reason favors them to compete with the Braves for the division title each season.
Mets Fans need to stop spending all of their time on Urban Dictionary and do something productive with their time: Like reading up on next season's projections.

The Mets and their seasons are constructed in a Washington General-esque manner where in the team always discovers new ways to lose while filling their "fans" with false hope that their up-and-coming players while become of some important historic note. As of late, the Philadelphia Phillies have taken over the role of the Harlem Globetrotters from the New York Yankees to provide a sense of eternal depression to the Mets organization.
