Putting pressure on someone identified as an "innocent" bystander by the person doing the pressing, often without good cause, reason, or a point to doing it.
If someone wasn't having the police press people, why would they know what time the police usually back off at? It's not something most people would learn from experience, as jobs keep most people from having the luxury of staying up until dawn on a regular basis to learn it that way.

To press someone it means you like someone and you're doing everything you can to get that person's attention and to get into relationship with that person.
