I met this guy who is new in town. He’s my neighbor, just moved here yesterday. His last name is Hood so you know it’s all good so I invited him out last night and told him to be ready at 8, he said “I’ll pick you up at 7:45”. Fast forward, we get to the bar not to mention he opened all doors along the way. He had a presence of safety yet at the same time the “bad boy” side. Along the way he greeted everyone with kindness, walked head high, chest out, and with a smile on his face. We get settled at the bar, grab a drink and realize no one is dancing. This man gets up, grabs me by the hand and said “come on this is either going to be really fun or really awkward if no one joins in” needless to say he single-handedly brought that bar to life. From afar you want to not like him because of his good looks but if you just talked to him, you will understand that that man is hoodalicious.

honorary gay straight friend

A Platonic friend of a member of the opposing gender who, for whatever reason, does not fulfill the function of a boy/girlfriend, but they go back a number of years, they can confide in each other to a limited extent, and there is an expectation that things will not turn romantic/sexual. Similar to the "work wife" or "work husband" (assuming there is no affair). Bartenders, male and female, and a lot of workers with public-facing jobs tend to have many honorary gay straight friends.
