latest and greatest

a term usually used in a derogatory manner to describe brand new things, and how sought after and fawned over they are by people who often already have perfectly good items said new thing would be replacing, usually in an attempt to stay hip or cool, be "first on the block," or keep up with the Joneses.

The Apple fanboys always gotta have the latest and greatest, faithfully in line for new iPads and iPhones, even if their current ones are only a few months old and the new ones aren't that much different.

Hayley, you already have 12 Prada bags, do you really need to chase down the latest and greatest?

Gotta love how these spoiled hipsters use their trust funds on the latest and greatest!

United kingdom of Great Britain and Northern ireland

4th richest economy of the world. Fist steps to form were re-union of England and Wales (1282). Union of afore-mentioned and Scotland (1705). This made it the United Kingdom. When it conquered Ireland/Eire, it became the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. After this hold over Ireland was minimised to six counties, it assumed the current name.

Third longest country name in the world, eh?

Great America

Two amusement parks (one in Gurnee, IL, the other in Santa Clara, CA) built by Marriott that opened in 1976. Both parks were sold in 1984. The Gurnee park is now Six Flags Great America, and the Santa Clara park is now California's Great America.

Great Falls

A very wealthy/rich part of Northern Virginia, very close to Washington D.C. (Fairfax County). Many of the people that work with the government or at the White House live in Great Falls. Because Great Falls is a nice, private little town full of trees, many of the houses are gated & privatley surrounded by trees.

The kids in Great Falls go to Langley Highschool, a school known to be full of rich kids according to other kids who go to different highschools in that area.

person 1: Look at all those nice looking cars passing us by, going through that road!

person 2: yeah theyre all going to there mansions, in Great Falls.

Great Britain

An often misused term. Great Britain in the geographical sense refers to the largest of the 800+ islands that make up the British Isles.

In the political sense it refers to the union between Engalnd Scotland and Wales, and the central government of the same. (Add Northern Ireland into the equation and you get The United Kingdom)

Most people in Britain refer to themselves as English, Scottish or Welsh, Not British.
