Yet another one of those groups like soccer moms and Mormons who would rather have everyone else around them feel as pathetic as themselves.

Some of their known atrocities include burning books, promoting an "abstinence-only" approach to sex ed, and eroding women's lives (not only on the right to choose, but to the sickening degree of "a woman's place is in the home" that wasn't present in the time of Leave It to Beaver.)

As with any possible religious fundy, not all Southern Baptists follow these retrovisionist beliefs. Take with a full shaker of salt.

First the Jehova's Witnesses last Monday, now the Southern Baptists? Jenny, get my gun.

An individual who lives in the southern United States. Nasal-voiced northerners insist that all southerners are inbred, ignorant hicks, but in truth it's the northerners (see Yankees) who are the ignorant ones.

A true southerner is moralistic, kind, practices southern hospitality, has an actual sense of humor, and sees more to life than rushing around in a city all day. Come on people, sit back and drink some lemonade or something.

Northerner: Whoa, since when do all southerns not live in trailer parks?
Southerner: Since forever.

A southern redneck is the typical country boy hick, with a strong Southern accent and drawl. Add in overalls, flannel, a pick up truck, and inbreeding, and they're a southern redneck.

When we pulled up to the house, we saw a bunch of shirtless men in overalls, with abandoned cars all over the card. What a bunch of southern rednecks.

Southern Virginia

Southern Virginia is the best place in the world. Known for its beautiful {southern belles}, Southern Virginia is an amazing place to be. We know the true meaning of southern hospitality and the men certainly know how to treat the ladies. And for Northern Virginia...you too were part of the Confederacy :) We are the only reason YOU seem somewhat of a nice place...

southerner

Humans seem to have a desire to categorize EVERYTHING. We all do it. Southerner became an easy way to gerneralize people who had a different culture. For those of us who had never been south of Illinois and East of Kansas ;it was a broad generalization. Referring to people who had hot summers, talked with a drawl,the highest hospitality rating,liked grits,sweet tea and a realxed, God loving life.

A good friend of mine was from Georgia and called herself a Southerner and was proud of it. She said a Southerner comes from God's country. I am a transplant will I ever be a Southerner?
