The Renaldi Effect

The Renaldi Effect, or "Going full Renaldi" , is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which an individual has a well-established bias in which someone's subjective confidence in their judgments is reliably greater than their objective accuracy. This is the phenomenon in which people tend to believe they are noticed more than they really are. Being that one is constantly in the center of one's own world, an accurate evaluation of how much one is noticed by others has shown to be uncommon. The reasoning behind the spotlight effect comes from our human tendency to forget that although one is the center of one's own world, one is not the center of everyone else's. This tendency is especially prominent when one purchases a yellow Ferrari 430.

The Airport Effect

The temporary increase in self importance that individuals assign to themselves while waiting at airports.

Future passengers suffering from the airport effect often portray more serious facial expressions, increase their cell phone speaking volume if discussing business matters, and perform fake work on their laptop near heavily populated areas.

James and Preston sit at the Chilis bar near gate 17:

James: "Preston, please excuse me for a moment. I'm going to get my shoes shined in the elevated wooden chair while I read the journal"

Preston: "James are you alright? You seem to be coming down with the airport effect..."

the homecoming effect

the act of stressing out in the weeks before a homecoming dance in regards to the possibilities of not having a date for the dance. side effects may include nausea, headache, upset stomach, and the all around feeling of hopelessness and depression as you have lost all confidence in your abilities.

Joey was experiencing the homecoming effect when he realized that he was single and needed a date for the homecoming dance.

The Futon Effect

A Futon attempts to be both bed and couch, but makes a terrible bed and a terrible couch. The Futon Effect is a force which dooms many similar attempts to a similar fate.

Spork. A spork is that funny eating thing that is half-spoon and half-fork. Intended for camping, this unnecessary invention makes very bothersome the eating of either liquid or solid food, and thus can be said to suffer from The Futon Effect.
