Someone who acts like your friend-they talk with you and hang out with you-one night a week, but then any other time you try to talk with them they ignore you.
She was such a great friend yesterday, but today she isn't responding to my text messages. She's such a Friday night friend.

Get the all-weather friend mug.Literally, as a reversal of the common expression "friends with benefits" this could mean any platonic friendship--but there are already plenty of words for that most-common of relationships. Friends without benefits describes a particular type of a situation where you've outgrown or are tired of a friend but through some force of habit (on either person's part really) they're still in your life. But there's no benefit to the relationship for you. They keep calling you up and acting like everything's everything when you're around but you're so relieved when they hang up or leave. And nothing really bad has happened that you could point to and "break up" with them. So you plod onward making excuses and dreading the next time they call. Happens most often with borderline sociopaths who are unable to pick up on the stream of cues you give them that they're unwelcome. Also requires you to be too empathic to simply tell them to fuck off. Mutual history also plays a part in this. May be more common in middle age.

Get the friends without benefits mug.General euphenism for taking a crap. Can be altered slightly to better describe the type of crapping situation one is about to experience or has experienced by explaining the experience your friends are having or about to have. See examples below.
to crap: Hey, I'm going to "make some friends."
to inquire: How are your friends?
crapping discomfort: My friends are angry today.
leftover floater: I went to go make some friends, but someone else's friends were there to greet me.
don't leave a floater: Never leave a friend behind.
post crapping: My friends have left the building.
self explanitory: There's a special place inside me for all my friends.
constipated: My friends didn't show up.
eating questionable food: My friends aren't going to like this.
(i think we see where this is going.)

I didn't much like Lisa when we worked on the fundraiser together and now she put in a friend request to me on Facebook. I wouldn't have accepted it but she is so well connected in the community I think it would be a mistake to ignore it. I grouped her under what she is--a Facebook obligate friend.
