A residential area in a city or town that is run-down, poorly maintained, and/or contains buildings that unsavory characters frequent. Also known as a slum.

This apartment is a mixed bag. It's in the cheap streets, but it's within walking distance to work.

cheap-assedly

Pronunciation: cheep-as-ed-ly (ed pronounced as in Shakespeare). Adverb. To perform an action in a cheap-assed way.

Example: He took her out to a French bistro for Valentine's Day; then he cheap-assedly let her pay for the whole meal.

Susan is a pediatrician, but she cheap-assedly wouldn't buy the better TV for her family, because it cost $100 more.

Buy cheap, buy twice

When you see two identical products in the shop, one is expensive but made by a well known company and the other is by a brand you've never heard of but is considerably cheaper!

It comes from the fact that most cheap knocks are of poor quality and as a result it'll probably break shortly after buying meaning you'll have to buy another one. Usually when you add the price for the first and the replacement item together, it would've been cheaper to buy the better branded item in the first place.

Steve: Oh my god dude, I bought a new TV three months ago and it's already broken!

Peter: Bugger, that sucks, I'm surprised that Sony TV broke so quickly.

Steve: No, I changed my mind and didn't get the Sony. I found this Gujarati Electronics one which was a lot cheaper so I got that instead!

Peter: Gujarati Electronics? Never heard of them! You know what they say mate, buy cheap, buy twice! Shoulda stuck with the Sony!

Cheap beef

The kind of guy who is a bit tough right now but who you know will be perfect and tender after marinating for a few years. Usually need to grow up and experience more life before settling down. He isn’t what you thought you wanted but he’s exactly what you need, and right in front of you.

Caitlin: What do you even see in that loser?
