Workplace Democracy

Workplace Democracy is the application of democracy in all its forms to the workplace. This can include voting systems, debates, democratic structuring, due process, adversarial process, systems of appeal. If this sounds a little left wing, it’s because it is and can pose a risk to the organisation as democratic initiatives can be taken over by extremists and twisted so that they no longer conform to their original intent so that the organisation becomes a toxic workplace.

Workplace democracy can be implemented in a variety of ways, which are subject to the size, culture, and other variables of the organisation itself and can vary from a total democratic system to employers asking opinions of employees without taking into consideration their beliefs and opinions.

There is, however, one point to be made, whatever may emerge during the democratic process in a workplace, someone still has to make a decision, otherwise fuck all gets done.
“That heale Malcolm is telling the boss he is entitled to more leave than anyone else, but the boss told him to get lost.”
“That’s workplace democracy for you.”

Workplace Discrimination

Workplace discrimination is based on the belief that some people are better at some types of work than others. This is not solely attributable to employers but can be present in members of the workforce as well. It can be based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, physical or mental disability, age, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Differences in earnings or the work carried out which come from differences in qualifications or responsibilities are not due to workplace discrimination. Workplace discrimination can be intended and involve unfair treatment of the people in a particular group or be unintended, yet still create unfavourable impact for that group.

While it may be due to ignorance, prejudice and stupidity this does not excuse it and it should be corrected. If it is deliberate and planned discrimination against a particular group it can be the sign of a toxic workplace so best find a new job, you may be next.
“I see the feminists are claiming workplace discrimination in favour of men in the fields of medicine and dentistry.”
“Funny how they never claim it in the field of sewer maintenance.”

burned my workplace down

A term for "awesome". As in, wouldn't it be awesome to wake up in the morning and find out your shitty, boring job burned down, meaning you don't have to come in and are free to go out and play.

Can also substitute with other ways that your job meets a fiery end, such as "burned my job down/lit my cubicle on fire/firebombed work"
"Did you hear that guitar solo?"

"Yea, it totally burned my workplace down!"

"That pizza burned my workplace down!"

"Star Wars was a great movie, it burned my workplace down!"

workplace mutism

When highly creative, intelligent people are entirely mute during staff meetings in a toxic and retaliatory workplace.
Workplace mutism is a great solution to staying off the boss’s radar if you’re fine being gutless and nutless.

workplace trash sifters

Those folks you notice who always stay late who are doing so in order to be able to privately examine the contents of colleagues’ trashcans to gather intel.
Those creepy workplace trash sifters sometimes strike stark terror into me to the point where I can’t sleep!

workplace mole

An unethical person, usually with zero self-respect or identity, who is willing to spy on colleagues in the workplace for the pathetic emotional goodies provided from administrative puppet masters.
Of course he is a vile workplace mole, why do you think they moved him into our department?
