Strug-Shrug

a non verbal behavior exhibited on days when the struggle is real and ones brain is having extensive difficulty addressing or solving a given situation. The strug-shrug is a differentiated from a normal shrug by a lackadaisical shoulder movement up then down, often accompanied by a blank or confused stare.

After consecutive 16 hour work days, Shawna, when asked about an approaching campaign launch, replied to the best of her ability by giving a strug-shrug.

Literally, a drainage ditch. Metaphorically, the Irish Sea or latterly the Atlantic Ocean. Used regularly by Adrian McKinty in his trilogy of hard-boiled crime fiction novels featuring the protagonist Michael Forsythe.

I hope to cross the sheugh for my thirtieth birthday.

Considered by many to be Ayn Rand's greatest work, Atlas Shrugged is a long, pro-capitalist novel in which Ayn Rand sought to portray the ideal man and his effect on society.
