A written composition usually consisting of ten pages about useless crap that can be found much more easily on the internet by ten years that you are forced to write at least once to two times in your life.

Xanatos research

Any program of research in which any possible pattern of results, including null results, leads to interesting, publishable findings. Related to the concept of a Xanatos gambit, where any possible outcome to a scheme or plan leads to a victory for the mastermind of the plan.

Did you hear about the new experiment we're running on the XYZ phenomenon? It's totes Xanatos research. Either we're going to show that XYZ is real... or if the effect isn't there we have enough subjects to do equivalence testing to show that the existing results in the literature about XYZ are specious.

An example of child slavery. A really crappy project every Year 11 student in South Australia is forced to do against their own will. You have to research one question for six months straight, and you get bored to death. You don't graduate if you don't do it, and there's a high chance of failing and losing brain cells.

Student 1: "What lesson u got next"

Student 1: "Oh shit"
Student 2: "I'd rather jump off the Westpac Building"

The Research

The Research is an indie pop band from Wakefield, England. The lead singer is Russell "the disaster" who is hilarious and never seen without his baseball cap over his wild hair. He performs using a old Casio keyboard balanced on his knee. 2 girls make up the band- a bass player and a drummer. Most songs are based around failed relationships.

Black Mesa Research Facility

A badass research facility located in New Mexico. After a cataclysmic disaster in Sector C, Gordon Freeman is left to fight off retarded zombie alien things and other creatures. The Hazardous Environment Combat Unit (HECU) is sent in to kill anything and everything remaining, while the Black Ops are sent in to arm a nuclear device. This event leads to the Seven Hour War, which destroys most of the world's population, and leads to the events in Half-Life 2.

The Black Mesa Research Facility is boring. Fuck I guess I'll go work for Aperture Science.
