Of or relating to Hispanics and Blacks, esp in the media. Many times use of the word "minority" will exclude Asians; when in reference to university populations esp in California Asians will often be referred to as "minority-majority."

Minority: I think that 'minority' is the lesser part of society that just, basically, sits on the back burner, rejected from society. Being individualistic and rebellious to an extent. Not taking too much crap from people. Being apart of the minority puts you at the bottom. But don't bum out about it: The minority is more favorable. Trust me.

Karen said it was a "fringe minority" who were scared about certain freedoms being taken away from them by a minority government, and asking that kids be not forced to put masks when walking to school.

Swiss Army Minority

This is the Golden Unicorn of token friends. Befriending this person make you immune to accusations of discrimination of all kinds.

The best example of this is the elderly black lesbian paraplegic that we shall dub Emma. She's the perfect token because she covers all bases. By befriending Emma you're no longer racist or sexist; nor do you discriminate towards age, ability/mobility, or sexual orientation.

Jack: Yo Willard....I heard you got sued for only hiring white people

delusional minority

When radical extremists, such as the tea party, think they are following the will of a majority of the people. The tea party thinks a lower credit rating, a government shutdown and total gridlock in Washington are all the will of the people. The delusional minority does not seem to notice the approval rating of Congress is at an all time low! The real will of the majority of Americans is for Congress to do their job!

The delusional minority thinks a government shutdown is the way to get what they want and they believe the majority of the Americans agree. WTF?

Ethnic minority

Somebody who belongs to a different ethnic or "racial" background to the majority (or just largest group) in a country/city/town etc. Initially Italians, Poles, Irish and so on were considered minorities in the US until they assimilated into the "white" majority.

Contrary to the other definition, the "Caucasian gene" is only recessive because of the racist "one drop rule". For example, the likes of Rashida Jones and Colin Powell have a skin tone that is arguably closer to "white" than "black".

John: "You know, in most large American cities, whites are outnumbered by ethnic minorities"
James: "If ethnic minority groups outnumber whites, wouldn't that make them a majority?"
John: "Only in a country divided by white vs non-white. Why haven't we Americans grown past that yet?"
