Butt rock

1) A cranked up, stiff non-syncopated drum beat. The snare drum must be very loud. This is a result of a music industry in the 1980’s that wanted to distance itself from any of the “boring” improvisational aspects of hard rock music.
2) Squealing lead guitar that lacks any semblance of feeling
and may be dropped into any other song on recording by said band.
3) Angry lyrics about teachers, cops and parents who are
always f-ing with you. Sometimes even librarians may be a target in videos.
4) Lyrics about being high.
5) Band members must laugh incessantly at all of their own responses to interviewer's questions. (David Lee Roth started this trend but he actually was funny.)

Butt Rock

let me start off by saying that "Butt Rock" is a misunderstood art form. Butt Rock as defined by the everyday world is "a song or songs that is/are horrible but EVERYONE reacts to."

I have seen many people who swear up and down that 80s rock is the worst ever, but when "cum on feel the noise" or "holy diver" or "separate ways" come on, they are rocking along with everyone else.

Bands who performed "Butt Rock" wre known as Hair Bands.
Quiet Riot, Dio, Journey. Also: Motley Crue, Supertramp, Scorpions, Whitesnake.

Butt Rock

Butt Rock is really irony. In simple terms it is any music that one does not like and/or lives in denial that they actually listened to that music during that time period but now want to pretend they did not. It has actually nothing to do with quality of said music just the arrogance, inflated ego, and heavy pride of the one labeling it butt rock so they can distance themselves and feel superior.

The sad truth is that those who label it butt rock may as well had been those that listened to it at the time and thus are calling themselves butt rockers. Hence the irony.
Butt Rock? Art #5 knows he listened to that music back in the 80s. He is not fooling anyone. He knows he was a butt rocker then.

Butt Rock

terrible music that dominated the late 90's by attempting to be "angsty". Common traits include downtuned guitars, southern influence and singing about being angry. Closely related to nu-metal.

Butt Rock

Butt Rock is otherwise known as an "arena-ready anthem." The sounds are repetitious, the voices tend to be raspy and often loud, and the lyrics typically consist of either nonsense or kicking someone's ass.

The music is called "Butt Rock" due to the fact that the music sounds like an anal release passing through an oboe with electric guitar and vocals sprinkled in.

To make it easy on your self, just watch an episode of WWE and listen to the "Butt Rock" entrance music. You will know it when you hear it.
Dammit, that wrestler has another one of those Butt Rock entrances.
