geezer shopping

An art form of sorts, mastered by older folks, wherein the full geriatric shopping experience, from shelves to check stand, is exceedingly slow and careful and therefore difficult for everyone around to tolerate without triggering impatience and duress.

Take a chill pill, dearie, I’m old - in case you haven’t noticed - and I have earned my right to get out into the world and do some geezer shopping!

Shamping

Camping where any inconvenience is rectified by driving to the nearest store and purchasing whatever will make yoy more comfortable.

In other words Sham-camping.

When we were shamping, we went to Walmart and bought an inflatable couch, plug in fridge and ate at the McDonalds.

We wrote this definition on a blackberry while we were shamping.

outside-edge shopping

Buying food only from the outside edge of the supermarket, where the fresh produce, milk, juice, etc. are displayed, in order to minimize the purchase of packaged products and to maximize eating healthy

He: Your boyfriend's really into ecology these days!
She: Yeah, he's even into outside-edge shopping?
He: Meaning?
She: He only buys stuff that is displayed around the outside edge of the supermarket because he thinks it's ecologically less damaging than the rest of the stuff there -- and better for you.
He: Neat!
