Peddar is a (as far as I know English) surname. It was the surname used for peddlers in the olden days when your surname determined your job e.g. Smith would be a black Smith. It can so be spelled Pedder and is often misspelled or mispronounced as Peddar (Ped R) instead of Peddar (Pedder).
