Relentless Optimist

A term that employs irrational joy and hope in near dire situations despite all definable logic. Usually those employing such feelings find that situations work out in the end by twisting their logic to fit their needs.

Usually those who are a Relentless Optimist, are stubborn, high energy, positive, and every so often annoying, but always eager to keep going and do what they feel is the right thing.

Cynically Optimistic

When you believe all of humanity is driven by self-interest, but that humanity also has an innate desire to feel good about themselves, and that's a possibility for a person to act kindly. such as actively recycling out of a sense of legacy/guilt.
I could just be cynically optimistic right now, but I think that guy only helped that lady across the rode so he could feel morally superior .

depressingly optimistic

Depressing, yet somehow optimistic. Typically used when something bad has happened and a pathetic attempt is made to be optimistic about it. It often leads to feeling more depressed.
This would be depressingly optimistic:
Someone you've had a crush on that you couldn't work up the nerve to talk to dies. Trying to be optimistic, you tell yourself, "Well, at least I don't have to stress over trying to ask her out.". Depression sets in when you realize how much you wanted to try.
