Some people might think lel is a typo, but lel actually mean L.augh E.ven L.ouder. It is sometimes used as the way its defined, but also because some people get bored if the basic LOL.

Guy: My dog justed dragged its butt on the floor
Guy2: lel did you record it?

Always in lower caps, a substitute for lol meaning laughing extremely loudly. Normally used because lol is just to mainstream.
