something-ghost, gremlin or otherwise that changes your data for unknown reasons that results in material changes in reports to senior management. Usually results in unhappy discussions with said management.

The pathetic excuse tumblr used to justify the excruciatingly long period of time the site was down on 6-7/12/2010.

Commonly recognised in the phrase: "We're working quickly to recover from an issue in one of our database clusters. We're incredibly sorry for the inconvenience."

1: "How's you day been?"
2: "Refreshing"
1: "Why refreshing? Did you go for a swim? Have a shower? Sit under a waterfall?"
2: "No, I sat inside refreshing TUMBLR ALL DAY BECAUSE OF THE FCUKING DATABASE CLUSTERS"
