It's Complicated

I. Typically found on Facebook, you can change your relationship status to 'It's Complicated with' ...

II. Can be used as either an indicator that the two people involved are loosely in a relationship, or are taking a 'break,' or it can be a cover for another relationship --> If a girl is 'married' (as a joke) on facebook to her best friend who is a girl and she gets in a relationship but doesnt' want the world to know, she can say 'It's Complicated' with her bestfriend.

A. I'm dating someone now, but he lives 2 hours from me and we meet in the city. I'm thinking we put It's Complicated?

It's Complicated

Expression used by a staunch minority, especially on Facebook, that indicates 1) an unstable and immature, or 2) a disillusioned and mature, perspective. Will always be perceived by others as the former (1), so it's probably best left excluded from your Facebook, or any other type of, profile.

"Ha, look: his Facebook relationship status says, 'It's complicated.' Boy is he a lost soul...and poor her."

"Yeah, maybe he's just cheating, or 'just' maybe he knows what's up about human behavior. Read up on it. Besides, not like you know what you're doing with your girlfriend either."

"Seriously folks, it's best to leave that part on your profile blank. It's none of anyone's business."

Concepts such as Economics, Chess, Music, and Women

"I know how to play chess but I lose every time....I guess it's just "simply-complicated""

Person 1"The economy would be fixed if we lowered taxes"
Person 2"It doesn't work like that economics is "simply-complicated"

Person 1"I bought her flowers.....but that made her mad at me"

its complicated

a phrase people use when they are unsure of their love life and fall under one or more of these categories:
- they aren't sure whether they want to be friends or in a relationship with the person
- they are clinging on to an ending/toxic relationship
- they are afraid of being called single

im not sure if he likes me or not so i just tell people "its complicated" when they ask me my relationship status
