Chicken scratch (in art) appears messy with many strokes to make one line. For it to be truly chicken scratch, the art would have an odd formation of shapes- as in the shape isn't clear due to overlapping lines.

"Jessica's art is chicken scratch! I can't even tell where the bottom of the head is because there's so many overlapping lines!"
