One of the most annoying terms known to man. People use it when they are afraid that calling someone "black" is racist. What they don't know is that by calling a black person "African American", they are assuming that the person is both African and American.

an African American is a light skinned brother who is tired of being called a Mexican and is angry at the world. there is no mistaking the two when you see a black man you call him black if you see a sorta black man you call him African American.

True African Americans have very unusual names which are often the result of the Favorite food and or the first thing the mother sees while she is giving birth. EX:(Velveeta, Dasanni, and sanders.) while a Black man is given a traditional name like EX:( Tom *click* *click* jones) there is also a chart to determine the corecct term for a NIGGER yes i said NIGGER get over it crackers we were all thinking it.

A term that supports the definition of "cultural misappropriation" as individuals using this term have no direct association with one of the words in this "term".

"I'm African American", "Oh really? Were you born in Africa and then later relocated to the United States?", "No", "Oh then it must be because one of your parents is directly African and the other American?", "Oh no, its just because I have darker skin pigmentation and can't let go of something that happened centuries before I was born, to ancestors I've never met and with a heritage I know sweet nothing about - I just add the word "African" because it sounds exotic, while implying that my life has more struggle than yours".

If this term is used then every American who is not "Native" should have a "prefix word" defining their cultural origin, for example - Irish American, Italian American, Cuban American, Mexican American, Polish American, British American, Canadian American, etc.
