sniffing season

The first few weeks of the new year where old flames text, call or email wanting to see "how you've been....." They are sniffing you out to see if you would be open to another round of whatever you had in the past. Wise people will keep it moving and see it for what it is.

Friend 1: I just got 5 texts in 3 days from different guys I dated last year.....What is going on?
Friend 2: It's sniffing season....best to keep it moving.....

seasonal ghost

A ghost or apparition that only makes it's appearance during a specific season (fall, winter, ect).

The lights only flicker in January because that's when our seasonal ghost Hector comes around.

Roster Season

Roster Season is the opposite of Cuffing Season. A time of year where you have a lot of people you contact for dates etc but you aren't cuffed to one person. Termed by the popular podcast "The Perished Parent Posse" in one of their interviews.

Girl, it's roster season. Don't date that scrub, just add him to your roster.

Scheming season

Also known as scheming szn, and can also be referred to as Fielding season. Scheming season starts around late May- June, soon after cuffing season is over. Scheming season is basically when large amounts of couples break up, likely so they can scheme a.k.a get with other people over the summer months. Everyone wants to be in a secure relationship during the cold months and have someone for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, etc... but as soon as the summer season hits, it’s scheming szn and everyone wants to party and hook up with people.

“Dude did you hear that Matt broke up with Emily?”
“Yeah dude, I saw it coming; it’s scheming szn”

Cuffing Season is the time of year when people couple off to combat the cold and loneliness. When parsed down, it is simply a social construct, partly manufactured from holiday stress and partly biological, that pushes single people into relationships for the winter months. Scheming season is quite literally the opposite of cuffing season, that winter impulse to snuggle up with someone indoors.

Scheming season is the time from late May to early September during which people like to keep it cool and play to field.
