i love you is a phrase that i used to think was overused, before i found someone to say it to and truly mean it.
now i don’t think i can use it enough.
love is something i knew already. love was familiar, but in a different way. you taught me that love should be mutual, given but also received. you taught me that love isn’t always butterflies, but comfort and safety with your person. love is wanting to write a paragraph every night. love is always putting the “i” in front when you say i love you. love is constantly longing for just one more kiss, one more hug, one more touch of a hand. love is staying up longer than you ever used to just so you can talk. love is seeing beauty in every part of you that you consider a flaw. love is wanting to kiss all of your scars, and assure you that you are perfect. love is sticking around when it gets hard, and communicating when it’s difficult. most importantly, love is something i know differently because of you.

I love you

Being in love with you is crazy, it’s the main and sometimes the only reason to get out of bed. It feels like hot chocolate or coffee moving down the back of your throat and into your belly; warming you. Your my warms, my sun my everything. I love you looks like avoiding finding out what time it is because then the time goes slower and I know how far away you are and it hurts a little more. It’s knowing that when you have the strength to say it no matter how scary it’s easy because you mean it. I know what it’s truly like because I love you to no end Beau.

I love you

A phrase that I used to believe was "cringe" - not really cringe but that's the only word that comes close to how I'd describe it. A friend of mine also found the word "cringe" too, but also agreed that the word cringe didn't do it justice either. Perhaps the notion of love was what made it cringe. My friend never told anyone they loved them, but rather showed it by action. I didn't willingly ever tell anyone I loved them, but only did so because they said it first and I would've gotten yelled at if I didn't say it back.

Then one day my friend and I realised we had a crush on each other (ironically), and that was the day we both said we loved each other and finally understood that it wasn't cringe at all, but perhaps the best thing in the world to hear from someone if it's the right "someone". From that day on there hasn't been a day we haven't told each other we love them.

"I love you" isn't cringe, it's the best and hardest phrase to say in the English language, but it means the universe and beyond if you hear it from just the right someone.
