In the late 1990s, toy companies were struggling to figure out how to exactly appeal to the budding collector market, but at the same time also still continue to market their toys to children. One of these ways was by sculpting them into dynamic action poses, which would make them look interesting when displayed on a shelf, while still giving them articulation to give them play value to appeal to the children's market.
