Toxic Political Discourse 

At term to describe the sad state of politics America in the 21st century.

With the increasing influence of talk radio and so-called new commentators, there is more vitriolic argumenting and shouting than ever. People like Sarah Palin,Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter and Mike Savage are ranting and raving like complete idiots. These people tear down and make up lies about people they disagree with rather than offer any solutions to the problems we face.

This toxic political atmosphere is making political campaigns longer, meaner, dirtier and more expensive every year.

Toxic political discourse is creating a lot of tension, flustration and violence, but few solutions. We need to tone down the hostility in Washington, on the radio and on cable TV, before we destroy ourselves.

attempts to "teach the controversy" by creationists in biology courses, and global warming deniers in environmental science courses

Any number of campaigns against plays or films, such as Life of Brian or Jesus Christ Superstar, on the grounds that they are "offensive to Christians;" conservative Catholic groups are particularly fond of this tactic

Encouragement of anti-gay activists to eschew the words "gay" and "homosexual" in favor of such phrases as "unnatural vice" and "anti-Christian"

Global warming deniers whining about being called "deniers." They prefer the term "skeptic."

"Homicide bombing"

Atheist billboards are seen as insensitive to Christians.

Republicans changing the names of committees in the House of Representatives to change "labor" to "workforce" and remove any mention of "civil rights"

Free speech zones

The Dixie Chicks causing controversy by criticizing George Bush

ward churchill getting blasted to high heavens for insulting innocent americans (although this was definitely justified)

The whole fox news "war on christmas" nonsense

A term used to describe grandiose politicians who consider themselves saviors and expect all of their constituents to kneel at the altars of their perversely pious and pseudo-religious claptrap that is clearly designed to keep their authoritarian leadership dreams intact and growing.

Well let’s see, “Who exactly are the messiah politicians?” you may ask as you can’t help but immediately visualize the barely controlled explosive rage on the ruddy faces of Rick and Donald!
