An excellent novel written by Zora Neale Hurston in 1937. The
book details the life of Janie Crawford , a Southern black
woman, and her search to find her voice and her one true love. This novel was popularized partly by it'
s inclusion as required reading within some high school English classes, Oprah Winfrey’s book club, and the fact that it is very original and enthralling, giving the reader a new sense of what the world was like in the 1930’s through the eyes of a strong-willed black
woman.
