Persian

Persian refers to an ethnicity which is apart of the much larger Iranian group that inhabited present day Iran, Anatolia (now Turkey), The Caucaus, and Central Asia. The ancient Persians usurped the Median Empire and declared themselves the Achaemenid Pars(Achaemenid persians). Present day Iran now contains many ethnic groups: Kurds, Lurs, Lakis, Arabs, Armenians, and Persians. Most Iranians are mixed because years of conquest, imperialism, and being conquered themselves. They will however often most of the time identify with Persian -- as Persian is infact the dominant culture and language (Farsi/Parsi) within the country of Iran and also heavily influenced the Islamic Caliphates and Ottoman Empire that followed them.
