scene queen

A scene queen is typically a girl (or beckz or ryro aka same thing) who has accomplished one/all/most of the following:

- dated a guy in a band
- is in a band
- has their own clothing line
- does hair
- models
- does photography

etc. etc.

They are usually found crawling all over the internets on popular websites such as MySpace & LiveJournal.

Oh, and 99.9% of them have sidekicks.

Scene Kid New Version

Here's my updated version of your "Scene Kid", the old "Scene" is not how it used to be back in 2007.

New Scenester, Girl:
Might still have Scene Hair but some can have curly hair.
Can be one color or many. They don't have coontails in their hair anymore.
Dresses like an Indie kid, thinks she knows everything about fashion. <--- THIS IS MAJOR, I BELIEVED THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED WITH ALL THE ORIGINAL SCENE KIDS.
Still likes Hello Kitty.
Makeup is more improved not the simply black anymore. Wears false eyelashes.
Can have piercings, plugs, and tattoos too.
Definitely isn't childish anymore.
Uses photoshop and has the best pictures taken by her DSLR pro photography camera.

New Scenester, Guy (They still KIND OF look the same):
Still has his long choppy hair. Hair is the same, but doesn't cover one eye well it never did.
Has plugs, piercings, and tattoos.
Wears American Apparel alot.
Still wears skinny jeans and always will.
Looks like he's in a band.
V-necks are a must, might wear sandals.

Both might wear Babycakes clothing or some Drop Dead.
They both smoke and drink w/e go to shows and raves.
Myspace is dead, Stickam is wear they are at.
Their age doesn't matter but their usually 17 and older.
If your a teenager and younger and your in the new Scene well good for you.

Poser "Scene Kids", the ones who still try to look like the old Scene even if its long gone now:
Scene Hair, or a miserably attempt at it.
Thinks coontails are amazing and has to have them in her hair.
Likes Hello Kitty, Dinosaurs, Robots, thinks its cool to be childish.
Bad Grammar...
Ex.) Omgah thatz the sehxx, raddd so hxc and sxc, add meh on myspace kthxbaii.
Hot Topic whore, shops there too much and thinks its cool to spend $20 on band merch and not even usually go to their show.
Some don't even know what Stickam and American Apparel is.
Some usually wear Drop Dead and Babycakes only because they seen other kids wearing them and thinks he/she is so cool.
Looks kind of Emo.
Often labels themselves.
Has cheap pictures and bad editing on them.
Their ages range from 17 years old and younger like way younger I've seen some as old as 9 years old.

This is only the style I'm talking about. No one said that you had to like a certain type of music or personality to be Scene. If you do that then your definitely not being yourself. Lets face it the only reason the original scene kids changed was because of the poser ones who started copying them and doing the Scene wrong and failing at looking Scene.

Scene Kids

Scene Kid
Girl

- Very long hair (extentions) or short hair. Always with bangs.
- Usually black, sometimes with blonde or caramel spots
- Goes to shows alot
- Likes unknown music and random techno music
- They like shirts with guns, stars or polka dot patterns
- Sexx bracelets, beads and headbands
- Knee High Socks
- Skirts with leggings

Boy

- Hair is emo-ish
- Black usually with blonde or neon colours
- Tight pants
- Usually in a band
- Wierd obsession with Power Rangers.
- Unknown music (hxc, screamo, ect.)
- Rainbow Suspenders (a new style here)
- Sometimes makes out with other boys to impress the girls.

Both

- Hate poseurs and people who are new to the scene
- "&&" ";;" and constant chatspeak
- They will ignore you if you aren't the same as them
- Slip on Vans (checkered and hippos are big here) or ballet flats
- Bright mac make-up and lots of eyeliner
- Face Piercings
- Friendship bracelets
- Dora the Explorer, Barbie and Sponge Bob Backpacks
- Myspace with lots of scene friends
- They mostly all hate Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance
- They will try and earn scene points by doing things like walking instead of driving or being vegan.
- They usually have nicknames that only thier friends are allowed to use
- Hate being labeled emo and will beat you up if you call them emo
- Hardcore dances, or at least tries to
- Scenesters are hated by Goths and Preps
- They will say things are "The Sexx" ("Those shoes are the sexx!" or "She is totally the sexx!"P)
- Radd is used alot. They ocasionally will make up words with Radd in it (ex: Raddtastic)
- Radd is always spelled with two D's and Sexx is always spelled with two X's
- They like little kid books and they like to colour
- Some scensters are vegan and some are sXe (not all)
- They hate MTV (or in canada, much music)
- They like wierd animals such as Hippos, Elephants, Monkeys and Turtles
- Black Nailpolish
- They like Old School Nintendo
- They like "thug" or "ghetto" speak (Niggz, hommie, yo, ect.)
- Most of them think that they are orignal and you copied them
- They love hair straightners
- They love "things that go boom"
- They like to make animal noises, such as rawr, grr or meow
- Claim to be ugly, even though most aren't

Scene Girl 2: Yeah your hair makes me excited in the pants area. It's the sexx.
Scene Boy 1: No its so fugly I hate it! Are ya peeps goin to the show tonight?

Scene Girl 1: I was gunna get a ride, but walking is more scene.

Scenesters

I worked at spencer's gifts in my local mall for a year. In this time I could not help noticing the increase in young teens who seemed to be incapable of combing their hair. It became clear that this suit o-punk/ harajuku style of dress was the new trend.

This started me on a obsessive mission to find out what the heck a scene kid/ scenester actually is.
So through extensive research I've come up with the following conclusive facts:
1. Jeffree Star and his gang (Audrey Kitching, Hanna Beth, etc.) are the only true "Scenesters". They took they're new found (Japanese pop) style with them to all the hotest clubs a parties in Hollywood. They got famous for being at every party and having more myspace friends than Tom.
2. Jeffree Stars makeup skills and the fashions Audrey brought back from Japanese modeling/fashion arena is what makes up the style we know today as "Scene".
3. The music really has nothing to do with this pop culture movement.

4. Emo/ Indy/ Alternative kids may identify with the style of dress but the way they classify themselves makes them fundamentally anti-social which is the exact opposite of a scenester.
5. Scensters are obsessed with being the center of attention and the life of every party but they like to look cool and aloof while doing so.
These are the only trends and consistencies that exist in respect to the Scene Kids phenomenon. lots of wikipedia, youtube, twitter and buzznet were my sources.

Google image Harajuku Scenester and Scene Kids. You'll find that though the American version is somewhat understated by comparison it's essentially the same thing. As the good book says "there is nothing new under the sun".

Why Don't Scensters wash their hair?

Scenesters don't really know how to wear extensions.
