The disorder is characterized by intense urges for poonani and repetitive thoughts of poonani. Men and women with the condition often engage in risky and even futile behaviors to procure poonani. Patients will often negelect important reponsibilities and daily life activities due to the obsessive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are common with the illness.
