wegmans

A grocery store with roots in the Rochester area and founded by Danny Wegman. Eventually grew and expanded to become the best damn grocery store that exists, beating out Tops and other major competitors. Listed under Top Places to work in the US by Fortune Magazine. Almost every teenager in the Western NY area has worked at Wegmans at some point in their life and every time you shop there it's like a high school reunion.

Wegmans: where everybody knows your name.

Webmaster

An outdated occupation, just like haberdasher, miliner or blacksmith.

In mediaeval times, every website had a Webmaster who used his mystical computing powers to keep all the flashing text, unreadable links and "under construction" signs safely in place.

These days people have found other ways of making websites work, and the last use of the word "webmaster" happened on Geocities some time in 2004.

Weimerika

A portmanteau of "Weimar" and "Amerika". Used to describe the perceived similarities between the pre-World War 2 Weimar republic of Germany and the United States of today. These similarities may be the loss of social cohesion and moral values, a rise in crime, inequality, and a general alienation from the current state of affairs. These factors of instability led to the collapse of the Weimar republic and this is similarly implied by the use of the term Weimerika to be a possibility in the United States.

"A humiliating loss in war, rampant inflation, geriatric plutocrats running the show. Sometimes it really feels like we're living in Weimerika."
