Trainspotting occurs whilst on large doses of m.d.m.a. or during heavy sleep(R.E.M.). Also known as shuttervision, the eyes move rapidly back and forth creating broken up images, like watching a train go by from a stationary side view...also in reference to checking out a d.j.'s set.

and excellent British drugs film that made a star of Ewan McGregor (Later Obi-wan in star wars for those of you who don't watch things without CG.)
Trainspotting the pastime has been identified as a kind of autism, or so I hear.
