An informal, simplified spelling of night, attested from 1931. Recommended by spelling reformers such as the Simplified Spelling Board. Were used by the Chicago Tribune newspaper for many years. Now nite is mostly reserved for advertising.

Describing a seemingly uneventfull evening but, after a few phone calls and ringings at the door bell, the evening turns out to be a nite of immaculate proportions.

I needed to rest last night, but the phone rang, the door bell rang, and I ended-up having a majestic nite.

DJ Nite Train

Formally named Jerry Holloman, DJ Nite Train is a Boston area celebrity. His actual DJing career peaked in the 80's and 90's, and he still owns over 6,000 records, but now DJ Nite Train takes to the public transport systems of Boston and does pantomime DJ gigs. He has a myspace.

"Oh snap, son! I just saw DJ Nite Train on the Green Line doing his thing! I got it on video too!"
