As an adjective, just a place filler, as, "You Know," or, "The thing of it is... " Usually an attempt to give extra impact to a statement.

nickname for alcohol.
Word origin is when Jesse Zeller was at a party in which he drunkenly blurted out, "All You Need Is The Ground". Soon after that, people at that party started calling alcohol, the ground.

Grounded. The instance of having zero privileges.
I.E. Not being able to partake in ANYTHING.
The purpose of being grounded is to eliminate any and all "fun" situations until the the sentence of punishment has been served.

Spiritually speaking, to be grounded is to to bring yourself to a heightened sense of awareness in association with the present moment. This is particularly useful in order to feel more joyful stimulation whether physically or perceptually and at the same time reduce the sometimes detrimental nature of the repeating chatter of the mind.
Alan Watts once illustrated this point by ringing a bell. There was only sound; filling up the whole room, passing through you and vibrating your whole being. No words or chatter could have captured the healing nature of such grounding. You were grounded and completely inside the experience.
