camouflaneur

A (post) postmodern expression for the urban/contemporary artist, one who has the ability both to invent and conceal, communicate and absorb. Based on the poetics of camouflage Golding and flaneur Baudelaire, Benjamin, emphasising the nomadic, rhizomatic energy-skills of the curious, the technician, the editor and the eccentric.
The urban artist who feels more at home with wanderings, non-representational expression, political agency without moralising: this is the camouflaneur.

carmouflage

an optical illusion in which, while looking for a parking spot, hope blooms in the shape of an empty space that turns out to be a sub-compact car when you get close enough.
I circled the lot for 15 minutes and was devastated when the spot i thought i spied turned out to be a smart car case of carmouflage.

Fred is using urban camouflage. You can't see him, he can't hear you...you don't exist.

societal camouflage

Any act of deception preformed by an individual or group with the intent of concealing beliefs, attitudes, wealth, position or situations which their peer group, local community or society at large may find objectionable.
Societal camouflage would describe a family of athiests that send their children to Catholic school to avoid being stigmatized by their neighbors. Ex. Eric is gay, but is married to a woman so that his conservative employers will accpet him.

Camelflage

The act of wearing a long shirt to cover up pants or leggings that are just a little too tight down there.
Is that bad fashion sense, or just camelflage?
