A silly nickname for the Warner Brothers-Looney Tunes animated cartoon rabbit hunter, Elmer Fudd, when he tries to capture the wrong “wabbit” and winds up at the bottom of a cliff.

Oh dear, there goes good old Elmer Thud, right off the edge of that steep cliff that Bugs Bunny has finally chased him over!
