Theoretical Friend

Old friends that you never really hear from anymore, apart from the occasional Text msg, Email or fleeting birthday card, that always contains one of the phrases: "we should meet up, hang out, do something, I'll call you..." but never actually make any arrangements. These are good on paper mates, those that bump up your personal sense of popularity but never actually see. Friends in theory.

A person who is more concerned with his product or passion to worry about how to make money. First coined by Stephen Colbert to describe Brian Greene, a theoretical physicist, and his organization, World Science U.

Stephen: "Does this cost anything?"
Brian: "No it's free."
Stephen: "How does the university make its money? Off the football team?"
Brian: "That's a good question. I don't know, I don't think about those things. I just want to get good material out there to the world."
Stephen: "You're a theoretical physicist and a theoretical businessman!"

People used to believe warts could be cured by rubbing a potato on them and then burying the potato. They believed that as the potato rot, the wart disappeared too.

A THEORETICAL HEART WART refers to a person who induces great heart ache; the only cure for this suffering is to take your association with them and bury it.

-I put everything that reminded me of him in a box and put it out of sight because it's the only way to get over my theoretical heart wart.

theoretical virus

A Theoretical Virus is a fictional virus that is based on a real virus, but does not actually exist. They are used as a benchmark for viral preparedness. A good example of a theoretical virus is lyssa x, which is a relative of rabies. Web groups such as OZORT are geared toward preparing for worst case scenario viruses like these.

A Theoretical Virus can be just as dangerous as a real virus if you aren't prepared for it.
