Aussie term for the opposite of impostor syndrome, knowingly or unknowingly, resulting in spectacular failure.

Named after 2025 Australian Olympic breakdancer, “Raygun”.

Raygun

The phenomenon of a person reaching the pinnacle of their chosen activity / field / profession / sport / art / area of interest, only to be mediocre at it. Where outside observers of that activity / field / profession / sport / art / area of interest, can proclaim that they are also able to perform to that person's level of ability.
A: "How did she get into the Olympics? She was so bad."
B: "She raygunned it."
A: "Yeah yeah, I could totally do what she did."

To inadvertently sabotage an important event and/or make a fool of oneself due to overconfidence in one's own abilities. Named after the now infamous Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn, who demonstrated her unique style at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Person 1: "Mate, what the hell is she doing up there?"
Person 2: "I don't know, but she's completely raygunned it."

A term used to describe a performance or effort that doesn't meet expectations despite great potential. Inspired by Rachael Gunn's breakdancing debut at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where high hopes met an unexpected outcome. Often used humorously to describe underperformance with flair.
"At the salsa club, Alvaro was determined to impress the ladies with his dance skills. After a few too many drinks, he ended up Raygunning it, hopping around like a kangaroo instead of salsa dancing"
